Your family – Your brand. Are you all in?
Brands! They are everywhere. From the latest car craze to clothing and sports teams. People willing to pay the extra price because of the brand, sometimes it means better quality, sometimes it means we are a fan and that extra price is worth it. Think about a time in your life and for many people it was a school they attended, where when they donned a shirt or a hat and for a moment were so proud to belong, be a member, a part of something that meant a lot to them. Well, what if that shirt had your family name on it? #teamjackson, would you wear it? Would it mean something? For all you parents you probably would, at least once for a picture right?
Well now for the big question…would your kids? Seriously. Would it be the first shirt they go looking for? Or would it be in the back of the closet or drawer? Just gonna let you all think about this one for a bit.
Brand recognition is something companies pay billions of dollars for every year and billions more to protect. It symbolizes an ideology, ideals, or values. Maybe all three. What is your family brand worth? Yes, your family brand. #teamjackson is our brand. It represents more than a surname. It represents values, ideas, and morals that define who we are as a family. It represents a safety net that no matter what life throws your way will be there. It represents faith. It represents a team. It is a place where you always belong no matter how much life may suck.
What would you pay to protect it? Payment is not always monetary. You pay every day to build your brand as a parent in something much more valuable than money. You pay into your family brand investing in your children, working to provide for them, reading a book to them, setting an example. So I ask you again would your kids wear the #teamjackson shirt? Mine do. It’s one of the first things they look for. Every time they put on the shirt or gaiter or the ring and see #teamjackson they know they belong. They know they are something special.
Yes, we have #teamjackson swag. Why in the world not? It’s a brand I believe in, more important than any sports brand, car brand. We as a society are willing to pay more for a name brand because it has a name on it or a symbol on it. Why wouldn’t I then pay the few bucks more to personalize a brand that is way more important and meaningful?
So if your kiddos would not wear your brand? Why not? We will attack this one in the next post
We will try again tomorrow…
